Born in the heart of the industrial Midlands, the desire to escape to the countryside took hold when I was just a youngster. My parents did not drive so annual holidays were always by coach, usually speeding down the A38 to Weston super Mare.
The Peak District and Dovedale in particular was the first area I walked in seriously. The scene at Dovedale with Thorpe Cloud rising up from the narrow valley of the River Dove impressed me greatly.
After many years walking both in the Peak and Lake District I have discovered the attraction of our rugged coastline and have enjoyed many walking holidays on the coast over the last few years. My other passion is being afloat; the Norfolk Broads is my preferred location, out of season is the best time to go, either in spring or autumn.
Photography is the link between my outdoor pursuits and combined with my interest in social media and the Internet has lead me to create this and other web sites.
I have recently started my own PAT testing business; Stay Safe PAT Testing, we provide a portable appliance testing service across Derbyshire. I’m hoping this new venture will see me out and about more across the Peak District both in a business capacity and for the pure enjoyment of the outstanding countryside that is the Peak District National Park.
